Weekend Challenge
Over the weekend I revisited an old project that I never got far with. I had once attempted to model a NSW electric train (the C Set), however after looking at the model now I could see many issues (scale, topology, UVs). I have started from scratch, and am happy with the result. One day has been spent on the modeling (including UV mapping), and another working on the textures. For this particular piece there are still the wheels and the pantograph to be done. This is only the trailer, I am planning to use this as the base to model the control car as well, which is essentially the same model but with (in the real world) a moulded fiber glass front around the cab. Here are some progress pics so far. I will be experimenting with getting this into a game engine. There is still a bit to go before that stage though.
The model, before recieving textures.
The current texture work. I have been experimenting with different weathering tequniques and am pleased with the result. Currently there is one 2048x2048 diffuse map for both the exterior and interior. As yet there is no normal or spec map created.
