Character Update #5 - Mission to the Moon!
Early missions to the moon are proving succesful. They have been providing valuble data on how to move around in a low gravity situation, like that on the moon. Seen below is a group of cosmonauts discussing their findings while conducting EVAs on the moon this week.
This week has been focused on animations. As the opening paragraph mentions, learning how to walk has been one of the key areas of research, looking at footage from the Apollo landings has been a great help. Using Unreal Engine 4 and learning how to blend animations together have also been a major topic of research this week. While the animations are very rough it is progressing. A the moment the character has three idle animations (one main one and two randomly selected variations) as well as a walk and "jump" animation. Below are some examples of the walk, idle and jump (currently a squat) animations. The walk is more of a hop/skip.
